Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explain how economic principles relate to agriculture business management.
Understand key concepts like scarcity, supply and demand, opportunity cost, and decision-making under risk in an ag-based context. -
Recognize and describe agricultural business organizational structures including: sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, franchises, and cooperatives.
Compare advantages and disadvantages of each and their use in real-world agriculture. -
Identify and explain the four functions of management and how they relate to the agribusiness organization.
Explore how planning, organizing, leading, and controlling support effective business operations. -
Develop an awareness of the basic laws, regulations, and regulatory agencies that interact with the agriculture community.
Identify agencies such as USDA, CDFA, EPA, and FDA and describe their role in compliance and oversight. -
Recognize, evaluate, and propose solutions to problems in personnel, ethics, and communication.
Address challenges involving workplace communication, team dynamics, and ethical decision-making.
